In celebration of Youth Week, the Bathurst Youth Council has come up with two activities for their peers to enjoy.
They are designed to acknowledge their contribution to the community.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
The first day of Youth Week falls in the autumn school holidays, providing a perfect opportunity for kids and teenagers to attend the youth council's first event on Friday at the Kelso Community Hub.
Called Fitness for Fun, the event will include a free barbecue lunch, followed by fun and fitness-related activities organised and run in collaboration with Seventh-Day Adventist Church.
It's an all-ages event and free to attend. There is no need to book in advance.
Fitness for Fun runs from 12pm to 3pm on Friday at the Kelso Community Hub, located at 24 Bonnor Street.
"We encourage everyone to come, it's for all ages, and we're all really excited to be able to cater to everyone at the Kelso Community Hub," youth mayor Zoe Peters said.
The youth council's second event will be held on Friday, April 23.
Young people can take a spooky tour of the Australian Fossil and Mineral Museum after dark, where they'll hear stories and scary facts about dinosaurs and creatures that existed more than 230 million years ago.
Numbers are limited for this event. Although it's a free event, bookings need to be made by Wednesday by calling 6333 6523.
The event includes a pizza dinner, and attendees are asked to bring along torches.
The tour starts at 6.30pm.
Miss Peters hopes the two events will be well attended.
"I think both events will really demonstrate what we want to do, and that's to include anyone and everyone and get all demographics to enjoy Youth Week," she said.
Youth Week began as a NSW Government initiative in 1989, and after becoming a huge success among communities across the state, became a national event in 2000.
