An emerging young referee, Halsey ran the line at the recent Mid West League knockout tournament.
Under the watchful eye of referees' representative Terry Sahyoun and in the company of experienced centre men Anthony Boza, Jesse Sahyoun and Lance Kelly, Halsey enjoyed the day as one of the line officials.
Previously a St Pat's junior referee, and despite his age, 2021 is his third year in the refereeing ranks, initially controlling league tag and under 13s games.
Last season he got a taste of being involved as an official in senior women's rugby league, running a line in the Western Women's Rugby League opens grand final.
Now on the brink of more consistent selection in higher grades, the Eglinton talent would have received a good report from Sahyoun, his day on the lines at the Mid West knockout impressing the players and spectators alike.
That day followed on from the inaugural Bathurst Nines where Halsey ran the line in games involving the likes of Group 10 defending premier Bathurst Panthers, the Orange Warriors and Quakers Hill.
The first round of the Midwest Rugby League's competition is set for April 24 and as the season unfolds Halsey may be on duty once more.
