A man was airlifted to Sydney after being hit by a 4WD in Bathurst overnight, with police immediately starting an investigation.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of Rankin and Lambert streets shortly after 7pm on Monday evening, where they found a man with suspected head and pelvic injuries after he was hit by the vehicle while crossing the road.
The man was treated at the scene before being airlifted to Westmead Hospital where he's reported to be in a stable condition.
Witnesses have told police a 36-year-old man was driving a 2005-model Ford Territory when the pedestrian was struck as he crossed the road.

Officers from Chifley Police District are appealing for anyone with information about the incident, or wo may have dashcam vision, to call Bathurst Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
