The station, while operational, is also a worksite, and subsequently police have asked people not to come to the police station unless the matter is urgent.
The city's top cop, Superintendent Peter O'Brien reassured the community that police will still respond in the same manner whether an issue is reported in person in the station, or through other means.
He said there were many ways the public can get in touch with local police.
"Unless it is absolutely necessary to attend the Bathurst Police station, do not attend," he said.
"Please use the numerous alternative ways of contacting the NSW Police," he said.
Supt O'Brien said alternative reporting methods include:
Triple Zero (000) for emergencies, for example, when a life is in danger, when a crime is happening now or when the event is time critical.
Otherwise call the Bathurst Police Station on 6332 8699, or the Police Assistance Line on 131 444 or report via the police portal at https://portal.police.nsw.gov.au/
"If you are a victim of crime, other than in life threatening or time critical emergency situations, you should contact the NSW Police Assistance Line (131 444) or report online through the NSW Police Force Community Portal," Supt O'Brien said.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
Supt O'Brien said Crime Stoppers, which provides members of the public the ability to report information on criminals and/ or criminal activity, was another option.
"You can report crime to Crime Stoppers online via https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/ or by phoning 1800 333 000."
Supt O'Brien reassured the community that police services to the city remained the same during the station's upgrade.
"Our service, visibility and patrolling has not been diminished in any area," he said, adding the community will be kept up to date with developments.
