While the The Lagoon native prefers to deflect credit, her consistency is undeniable. While she does enjoy success with favourites, she also finds a way to win on less fancied runners.
Over the past decade Turnbull has been a constant on the list of leading drivers in New South Wales, with her tally of winners eclipsing triple figures every season dating back even further to 2009-10.
Last season even after being stuck in Victoria for six months when COVID-19 forced the closure of the state border, Turnbull still managed to drive 130 winners in her home state.
In both 2013-14 and 2012-13 she steered 203 victors.
This season Turnbull is sitting on 49 winners, coming within touching distance of her half century thanks to a winning treble at the Bathurst Paceway on Wednesday night.
All three of her wins came in the gig for her father-trainer Steve Turnbull - Tamanisha Terror ($1.80 favourite), Ring The Till ($3.40) and Bettor Keppel ($3.30).
The first of the successes, which came with Tamanisha Terror in the TAB Long May We Play Pace (1,730 metres), was the quickest mile rate clocked at the meeting with a 1:56.6.
The three-year-old was down in grade, having not won since August 16, 2020, but with Turnbull sitting behind him for the first time he ended that drought.
From a barrier 10 draw she guided Tamanisha Terror three wide and avoided trouble when Longueval - who had shot out to lead in the opening metres - galloped on the inside of Turnbull's chance.
That handed Tamanisha Terror the lead and from there Turnbull rated him perfectly. After a 60.3 seconds first half she urged the son of Western Terror to up the tempo through a 28.5 third quarter.
It saw all Tamanisha Terror's rivals save Leah Shannon drop out of contention and as they hit the top of the home straight, that duo had gapped the rest by more than eight metres.
Though Leah Shannon ($17) fought on, Tamanisha Terror pulled away to win by 9.3m. It was a good sign as bigger races loom.
"He had a bit of luck early, one galloped and he went to the front pretty easy and was down in grade a lot too, so he had a bit on them," Turnbull said.
"There were some handy horses still, but one of them galloped which made it a lot easier. He's sort of been racing some really nice horses, so I though he'd do good.
"He's definitely good enough [to race in high grades], he's got a couple of races at the end of May he's got to get ready for. One of them is the APG."
