SELF-DESCRIBED "slowest winger in the competition" Adam Plummer believes that although he's still chasing that extra bit of fitness this Blowes Clothing Cup season his Bathurst Bulldogs first grade teammates have made anything but a slow start to their campaign.

Plummer and the Bulldogs head into the second round of the competition against Dubbo Kangaroos fresh off a scrappy but encouraging 19-10 success over defending champions Orange Emus.
Bulldogs had questions over whether their pack could hold out the Emus but not only did the hosts have an answer for the Greens' size at Ashwood Park but they controlled much of the contest.
Plummer said showing a similar amount of heart for the team's first away fixture of the season will give them great winning chances against the 'Roos.
"I thought that with new players and young, inexperienced pack we might have struggled a bit on the weekend. But after the first run where we shoved them back a good three or four metres I think we thought that we had a game on our hands," he said.
"Yes it was a scrappy game but those are the ones that you've got to win. Coming away from that we got flogged pretty hard on Tuesday with our fitness, which is something we still need to improve upon, especially having a smaller side.
"Hopefully then we'll be able to develop our running rugby."
While Bulldogs representative stars Peter Fitzsimmons and Justin Mobbs were typically steering the ship in style for their side Plummer said several younger players put their hands up.
"It wasn't just your Fitzy's and Mobbsy's leading the way on the weekend. You had young Felschy [Tom Felsch] and Waz [Bailey Warren] really punching above their weight there," he said.
"We had underdogs coming through for us and that's what we'll need for the rest of the season.
"I thought Sione and Hunter in the centres did an awesome job. They didn't have an easy centre pairing to mark up against but they shut them down the whole game."
In a Bulldogs side featuring several changes to last season's lineup Plummer finds himself among the chopping and changing.
He's made the shift from centre to the wing, and while he's enjoying the change he believes there's still work to be done.
"Things are a bit different for me out on the wing," he said.
"On one wing you've got Buzzy Webber who is the quickest winger in the comp and then on the other side you've got me, the slowest winger in the comp. It's a bit of an interesting mix."
Bulldogs prepare to face a Dubbo team attempting to bounce back from a shock loss to an Orange City team who made an early statement with their 39-24 success at Pride Park.
Plummer's not paying too much attention to the opening round result.
"I've heard big things from Dubbo. They got up and won their trial game, something they've normally struggled with," he said.
"While I haven't seen any replays from the City game I'm still expecting very big things from Dubbo, especially travelling over there."
Bulldogs and Roos kick-off at 3.15pm.
