It is with deep concern that it is the view of some existing councillors that accommodation close to the CBD should be for the privileged only.
Those of disadvantage, limited access and transport issues (access to and use of a motor vehicle) and younger people seeking employment in the CBD should be afforded equality and ability to access accommodation within a walking distance of our CBD and to describe them as "certain people" is disgraceful.
Certainly these proposals need to be managed, and managed well with solid planning.
To suggest that providing subsidised and affordable accommodation is akin to creating slums is inappropriate and simply wrong.
Likewise, certainly quality accommodation, and provision for the short-term rental market to provide for visitors to our city, is equally important.
Clearly some councillors do not have a view to address disadvantage or social inequality, nor it seems understand the cause of anti-social behaviour.
