They got their wish.
After two rounds of disappointing results in front of goal the Saints strikers were on target in a 4-0 success over their Orange opponents, with four different Pat's players getting on the score sheet.
Pat's didn't need to take their time building towards their ideal game plan.
The home side were tuned in to their structure and goal from the outset, pulling out to a 3-0 lead at the main break.
The blue and whites had watched a two goal advantage evaporate in their 2-all draw against cross-city rivals Souths and that result would have been fresh in the minds of the team when coming back for the second half against CYMS.
This time the Pat's defence stayed resolute.
The win also saw long time Pat's star Kristy Ekert make her first appearance of the new season - marking the occasion with a goal.
Saints' Mish Somers said it was great to have Ekert back in action to help guide the younger squad members.
"Our young girls up front had a bit of go about them today. We had Kristy Ekert back in the side today and I think that really boosted the girls and everyone was on the front foot wanting to get the win," she said.
"She's such a big presence in our team and other teams are always looking out for her. Off the ball it creates a bit of space for our other players up front because she's one of those critical players."
Somers and Ekert got the Saints off to a scorching start through their penalty corner goals in the opening quarter.
Macie Fulton scored from the field in the second quarter before Paige Hay put the result almost beyond doubt for the Saints.
A golden chance for CYMS to get on the board was denied by Pat's defender Jodi Sharp with a clearance off the line.
Somers said it's easily the most complete of the three performances Pat's have put together so far.
"The girls were pretty impressive in the win today. It's a sigh of relief to get that first win of the season and hopefully things keep going upwards on onwards for us from here," she said.
"We had a great first quarter and got on top of them early. We probably lost our way a little bit after half-time but the girls grouped back together and our fitness helped us run over the top of the CYMS girls.
"Jodi's clearance was a big turning point for us. After that everyone was getting to the ball first and that helped us stay on top in the end.
"Our defence has been great in all three games but our finishing proved to be the biggest difference today."
