Imagine this, let's call it the Western Scenic Road and it runs from Glenbrook to Bathurst.
Imagine people - residents, tourists and day trippers alike - driving at their leisure, without monster trucks roaring along, overshadowing their vehicles and cramming them to the edges of the road.
Imagine those people stopping at a lookout to admire the beauty of the Blue Mountains and the superb land of the Central West, getting a coffee or lunch in a café; poking about in the antiques or collectibles shops, dining in the evening in one of the many top-class restaurant,; staying over in the beautiful B&Bs or hotels.
Imagine this, a tunnel to take the commercial vehicles in a rush to get product to and from Sydney-Central West.
What would it take? The NSW tourism board could handle the promotion. Imagine the prosperity it could bring to the Blue Mountains and Central West.
Elon Musk or some other engineering company could handle the tunnel. Imagine the time saved, the sales assured, the product received or despatched on time.
And the business people? Oh, we know they would be ready and willing to take on the extra patronage.
It would also take a Minister for Regional Transport and Roads who had vision and guts and who genuinely cared for the Blue Mountains and Central West. Imagine that.
