Held at libraries all across Australia on Wednesday, including the Bathurst Library, the event will feature Dr Shannon Walker reading Give Me Some Space! written by Australian author and illustrator Philip Bunting.
"National Simultaneous Storytime aims to promote the value of reading and literacy," Bathurst Library manager Patou Clerc said.
"This year's book is a fun and inspirational story of a young girl wanting to become an astronaut with a great message and plot that will appeal to many young children and families."

The event will begin at 11am around the country, with children attending all tuning in to the pre-recorded reading of the book.
"National Simultaneous Storytime is run every year and it's part of ALIA events, so Australian Library and Information, and basically they run it and all libraries across Australia are invited to participate," Bathurst Library programs officer Natalie Conn said.
The Bathurst event will be limited to 50 people.
National Simultaneous Storytime has been running successfully as part of Library and Information Week for the past 21 years.
