From 10.30am each Friday, local historian Dr Robin McLachlan will join 2MCE host Brett Van Heekeren for a discussion on a Pillars of Bathurst inductee who made landmark contributions to Bathurst's story.
Dr McLachlan, who helped commission the Pillars of Bathurst project in 2015, said the pillars highlight the unsung people who played a significant role in shaping Bathurst.
"Each episode will feature one inductee and delve further into their story and why they've been immortalised as a pillar of Bathurst," he said.
"Some of the stories have a rather mysterious angle to them, while others are more straightforward, but each episode goes beyond the official Pillars of Bathurst book, which provides a brief on each inductee."
The inductees range from Bathurst's earliest known people of significance, such as Windradyne and John Fennell, to more modern figures such as the late mayor Kath Knowles, heritage advocate Margaret Glen and community champion Toni Daymond.
The pillars were constructed using cast iron verandah posts from the former Royal Hotel, which traded from the 1840s to the 1960s.
Mr Van Heekeren said each show will highlight Dr McLachlan's penchant for storytelling.
"Robin is quite enthusiastic about these stories, and an amazing amount of research has gone into each of these individuals and their history," he said.
"The presentation of these stories through the radio medium brings them to life more than words on a page can."
At the conclusion of broadcast, each show will be uploaded to the 2MCE website, and eventually the Bathurst Regional Council website once all episodes have aired.
Each episode runs for approximately half an hour.
New Pillars of Bathurst inductees are announced each year during Proclamation Day celebrations.
