While the competition at Mount Broughton Golf and Country Club ultimately didn't go the way of Starkey and Lamb's South squad the Bathurst pair did get to enjoy some success as a duo.
The competition sees two members of each regional academy go up against one another to help further develop their skills.
"It was an initiative established between the regional academies of sport and our partner in golf, Jack Newton Junior Golf, a few years ago now. We were looking for an opportunity to provide that team atmosphere to the sport of golf," WRAS executive officer Candice Boggs said.
"They head off for three days of competition, mentoring and bonding with the other athletes that are in the same position as them.
"The first year we did it we ran it as a one-off to see how it would go, but the athletes, academies and coaches alike have come back from it saying what a great event it is. It's really like a high performance camp as well, and we've received great support from Jack Newton Junior Golf."
South (WRAS, South West, Illawarra, South East, Southern) were in control after the fourball and foursomes events over Friday and Saturday, taking a 7-5 lead into the singles matches.
North (Central Coast, Hunter, North Coast, Northern Inland, Western Sydney) hit back in a big way on the final day to run out 13.5 to 10.5 winners.
Starkey (2 and 1) and Lamb (4 and 3) went down in singles but had a pair of exciting games over the first two days as a duo.
The pair finished even with North's Emily Leong and Blake Hodges in the fourball before winning 1-up in the foursomes game against Lachlan Standing and Georgie Clune.
