HE kicked five majors in a best on ground performance, but Bathurst Giants captain Bailey Brien felt all his team-mates were deserving of praise after their 22-15-147 to 5-9-39 win over the Dubbo Demons on Saturday.

The attacking effort at George Park 1 saw the Giants notch up the fourth highest score in their senior men's AFL Central West history, the margin between the rivals standing at 108 points when the final siren sounded.
That such a performance came as the Giants celebrated their senior Indigenous round made it even more special.
"It was a pretty special day and to get best on ground, I didn't really expect it, but I am always honoured to get the award because I think it was just a good team effort for the day," Brien said.
"I'm lucky to kick five for the season most of the time, so it was a pretty good day for me, but my team-mates helped me out a lot which was really nice."
After participating in a smoking ceremony prior to opening bounce, the Giants went to work wearing special Indigenous jumpers designed by Josh Sly which celebrated Windradyne the great Wiradjuri warrior.
They booted five majors in the opening term while restricting the Demons to one and by half-time Brien and his men were well control with a 11-6-72 to 2-5-17 lead.
They kept up that intensity after the long break as the gap between the rivals blew out into triple figures. In the final period the Giants conceded just one behind.
Like Brien, Liam Cooke finished the game with five majors as the Giants' small forwards capitalised on their inside 50s and the good work their team-mates did in getting them the ball.
They cut off many of Dubbo's forays at the half back line, while the Giants' run through the centre was typically strong.
"We were just solid all day. I think we had a pretty good team on the park and we just pushed all day and didn't let the foot off the pedal," Brien said.
"I thought our centre clearances were good, we dominated that most of the day, but just our link up off our halfback flank too with Jacob [Molkentin] and [Ryan] Cookie pushing up to get it into the forward line was good, our link up laterally was really good as well."
The result gave the Giants' percentage a good boost and keeps them in second with five wins from six outings heading into the long weekend general bye.
"It's nice to go into the break after a massive win, we know we played some really good footy, now we know how well we can play," Brien said.
BATHURST GIANTS 22-15-147 (Bailey Brien 5, Liam Cooke 5, Simon Kay 3, Mitch Taylor 3, Max Currie 2, Oscar Mann, Sam Sloan, Bryce Cross, Nic Broes) defeated DUBBO DEMONS 5-9-39 (Tom Budd 3, Joseph Hedger, Jarred Clark)
