BATHURST drivers have been urged to take extra care on the roads in the coming days with rain and possible snowfall predicted.

The warning comes after emergency services were called to a two-vehicle crash on Monday afternoon.
The relatively minor crash involved a car and small truck on the corner of Peel and Durham street, though an elderly man was treated at the scene and transported to Orange Health Service for precautionary reasons after we was trapped for a short time.

NSW Ambulance Central West operations manager Brad Porter said the prediction of hazardous weather over the next couple of days should put motorists on alert.
"This time of year we do see our roads deteriorate with the colder weather, we're expecting snow over the next couple of days so that will make the Great Western Highway between Bathurst and Lithgow very treacherous," Mr Porter said.
"We would really encourage people if they don't need to be on the roads don't be on the roads but if they do take advice and warnings of the signs and certainly decrease their speed."
