That will mean a total of six sporting grounds located along Hereford Street, with the precinct set to cater for a range of large sporting events.
Mayor Bobby Bourke said the upgrade would also include a large car park, accommodating up to 800 vehicles.

"I expect to see bigger football carnivals here, school carnivals here ... we'll have one sporting precinct down here that can cater for the lot," Cr Bourke said.
"It'll be a great asset for Bathurst right across the board because of the parking. When you have shows or big events on the shuttle bus service works out of here so to have up to 800 car parks here will take that pressure off the middle of the town."
Cr Bourke also expects the expansion of the precinct to be highly beneficial for the Bathurst economy, with the potential to attract high-profile sporting events.
"All sporting events that we put on in town, it doesn't matter what it is, from basketball to hockey to football, it brings a lot of people into town and the economy benefits a real lot by it," he said.
"Millions of dollars, motels booked out, we have a lot of motels and we have them all booked out on big occasions, so there's a flow of people coming here now to regional NSW and that can only be good for Bathurst."
In addition to the sporting fields and the carpark, the upgrades will include lighting, a roundabout entering the precinct and an amenities building.
After receiving the funding in 2018 the long wait is almost over, with Cr Bourke hoping the project will be completed by the end of the year.
"Covid-19 put a hold on that and plus we didn't have a lot of water in the dam ... but now it's all go," he said.
"They've started here now and hopefully [will finish] before the end of the year.
"The weather's a bit rough this time of year but they're getting on with it and that's what we need to do."
Cr Bourke acknowledged the NSW Government for its support in boosting regional areas and sporting facilities.
