Roach last visited in 2019 to promote the launch of his memoir, Tell Me Why, and will return in promotion of the memoir's companion album of the same name.
"Tell Me Why is named after a song I wrote about my parents, and it also questions why outside parties needed to determine where I lived and who my parents should be," Roach told the Western Advocate in 2019.
"I grew up thinking it was normal to be in a dormitory in order to be billeted away to foster families.
"This all changed when I was 14 and received a letter from my biological sister informing me that my mother had passed away."
Roach is best known for his landmark 1990 debut album, Charcoal Lane, and is a high-profile advocate for First Nations rights.
Tell Me Why, the memoir and album, is an extraordinary odyssey of love and heartbreak, family and community, survival and renewal, and the healing power of music.
Roach will perform at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre on Tuesday, August 17 from 7.30pm. Tickets cost $65 and are available from www.bmec.com.au.
