Trained by Tania Trippett of Maryvale, Windy Pines was backed at $13 ahead of his start in the Ladbrokes Easy Form (450 metres) and jumped well from the boxes to contest the lead with Lucky Logan ($3.10) and Silver Armour ($5.50).
As they turned for home, Windy Pines had plenty of space to work with and he took the front coming into the home straight and never looked back.
Following the race, Trippett said she was confident Windy Pines wouldn't be caught once he hit the front.
"That was a big PB by him, so I'm wrapped," she said.
"Once he got to the lead, I knew they wouldn't catch him because he's got a good finisher.
"He doesn't like to be crowded, he just likes plenty of room. It worked out in his favour."
Trippett is hoping Monday's win can be a stepping stone to get Windy Pines racing over 500 metres again, having last race over that distance in August last year.
"I want to get him back up to racing at 500 metres," she said.
"When I first put him up at the 500 metres, he was a bit young. Now he's matured, so I think he might be well sorted over the 500.
"He'll be able to lead, to get more room."
Windy Pines' sister came up short in the opening race of the meeting, the three-year-old red fawn bitch coming third in the Welcome GBOTA Maiden (307 metres).
