But in a change from their best known show, Lennon Through a Glass Onion, the pair will present The John Lennon Songbook: a new concept centred around the 50th anniversary of Lennon's landmark 1971 record, Imagine.
Waters said he and D'Arrietta, on guitar and piano respectively, will be joined by 'The Liverpool Band' to present the Imagine record in its entirety, as well as a selection of Beatles and Lennon solo hits.
"The show will be less theatrical than 'Glass Onion' and place emphasis purely on the songs," he said.
"Both Stewart and I have been involved in album shows before [presenting The Beatles' White Album for example], and as we were putting this show together, we soon realised the run would coincide with Imagine's important milestone.
Waters said Imagine was the first record where Lennon started to speak for himself and not as a Beatle with his songwriting.
"Not only does the album have the iconic title track, but also 'How Do You Sleep?', 'How? and 'Gimme Some Truth', the latter of which is a rather pertinent song for today's politicians," he said.
"We performed 'How?' in our 'Glass Onion' show, and I don't think there'll be a dry eye in the house with some of these songs."
Waters said he, D'Arrietta and the band have road-tested the new format a handful of times [minus the Imagine songs] for a live audience, and look forward to taking the show on the road, COVID depending.
"We had to cancel 60 shows last year, our livelihood was gone in an instant," he said.
"I think people will get a lot out of this show, from those who have seen 'Glass Onion' before to newer fan who may just be getting into John Lennon or The Beatles."
In addition to music, Waters is also a fine actor, best known for his long-running stint on Play School throughout the 70s and 80s and memorable roles in Offspring and All Saints.
Waters and D'Arrietta last visited Bathurst in February last year, when they brought Lennon Through a Glass Onion to the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre: one of their last gigs prior to the COVID-19 lockdown.
The John Lennon Songbook will be performed at Bathurst RSL Club on Saturday, August 28 from 8.30pm. Tickets cost $45 for members and $47 for non-members.
