A concerned reader had contacted the Western Advocate about the state of Piper Street between George and William streets, with the project waiting for the pavement to be stabilised before it is sealed with asphalt.
"We have had to cancel the contractors twice in the last few weeks due to wet weather and, more recently, COVID restrictions," acting director of engineering services Russell Deans said.

"They were booked to come here [last week] to stabilise one kilometre of Turondale Road, one kilometre of Rockley Road and Piper Street between William and George Streets.
"However, we had to cancel them because the crews are Sydney based and are not permitted to work for council until after lockdown."
The work on Piper Street between George and William streets is a part of the NSW Government's Fixing Local Roads Program, one of two projects council received funding approval from.
The second section is from Hope Street to Metre Street, with work planned to start on Wednesday and Thursday.
"The work involved for this section is a simple mill out and fill with asphalt," Mr Deans explained.
