The young beagle became wedged between a wire fence and steel sheeting on Monday morning and struggled to breathe.
Firefighters were alerted to the incident at the East Albury home on the NSW-Victorian border about 11am and found the pet distressed when they arrived at the scene.
"He was struggling to breathe," firefighter Sean Lane said.
"He was pretty well stuck in there sideways and had a cut on his paw with a bit of blood.
"He was really distressed."

The animal was stuck about a metre off the ground with its rear legs wrapped around a pole.
Fire crews used a tool similar to a crowbar to pry him free.
It only took a few minutes to free the beagle, who was then taken to a veterinarian.
"The owners were relieved," Mr Lane said.
"They thought he might have been stuck there for a while."
