Demons produced a ruthless start to help cement a 15-9-99 to 10-8-68 win at South Dubbo Oval, led by a five goal blitz from star forward Bevan Charlton-White.
Giants helped the cause for the Demons with one of the most undisciplined performances in the team's history.
The visitors gave away a total of five goals from 50 metre penalties and had a player sent off in the second quarter.
Demons still had to be strong in order to take advantage of the situation, and they were, blowing out to a 11-3-69 to 4-4-28 lead at the main break.
Giants outscored the hosts for the remainder of the match once they mentally got themselves back in the contest - a small positive in an otherwise forgettable day.
"We got too caught up in the decisions that the umpires were making. Good, bad or indifferent, the umpires are the umpires and we just needed to get on with the game. Our discipline went out the window too," Giants coach Mark Kennedy said.
"We had to reset in the second half, make sure that we focused on the football and use our skills to take the game away from Dubbo. If we control the football then we control the game. I think we managed to do that.
"I was proud of the guys about the fact they did achieve the goal we had of outscoring them in the second half because our backs were against the wall. I didn't think that we were every going to overtake them - they got too much of jump out - because, to their credit, Dubbo played really well.
"I think on the day our emotions got the better of us, and that's me included. I got caught up in the emotions of the game and I learned a lot from it."
