The Pet Rock gelding hasn't been handed the kindest draw for the HRNSW 2YO Guaranteed Pace (1,730 metres), forced out to the widest gate after he broke at the start on his recent debut.
Despite that mishap on debut Arma Rolling Stone caught back up to the field after falling behind at the start and still ran on for a gallant third.
Hewitt, currently in Queensland to take part in their winter feature events, said it was a game effort by his gelding on debut.
"He goes okay. He's not going to be anything brilliant but I think he's going to do a really good job," he said.
"He did a good job last start. He probably lost around 30 metres and that's what he ended up getting beaten by. That was a 54, and they don't go too much quicker than that at two-years-old.
"You just want to see them get around safely in their first start and see if they can get everything right. That was the first time that he'd galloped in his life. He's usually 100 per cent at the gate.
"Hopefully we can get him a couple of good starts before turning him out and getting him ready for the Breeders Challenge races later in the year."
If Arma Rolling Stone can follow in the tracks of his siblings then he could be in for an eye-catching career.
There's some serious talent to have come from Arma Rolling Stone's dam, Arma The One, including consistent metro performer Arma The Gun and recent NSW Oaks top five finisher Arma Renegade.
Other horses to watch in Wednesday night's two-year-old event include Leigh Davis' Rainbow Titan, chasing a third straight win, and Mat Rue's Weona Miss Fortune making her second start back.
