As Helen Jagoe reminded us, we must think globally and act locally.
As we approach our local elections, we must choose representatives who have the capacity to see the bigger picture, to look forward, to plan ahead with the future of our children and, indeed, our planet in mind, and the courage to implement those plans.
RECENT LETTERS TO THE EDITOR:
Barnaby Joyce's comments regarding the cost of renewable energy do not reflect even an intelligent "capitalist" stance.
It is backward thinking not just from a climate perspective, but also financially.
As those of us with solar panels know, an upfront investment can give us free power for years to come. The same principles apply on any scale.
No one expects to switch to 100 per cent renewables overnight, but we must make the choice to move forward and plan accordingly, setting specific targets and strategies.
We need politicians at all levels to be leaders with vision and courage and excitement about the possibilities of the future if we all work together.
