It was the Facebook post that had Scott McLaughlin fans and those of the Supercars in general excited, the former champion making no secret of his intent to race in this year's Bathurst 1000.
McLaughlin posted the statement on Facebook last week after it was confirmed this year's edition of the Great Race had been shifted from October to November 4-7.
That new date increases the chances of McLaughlin, who is currently based in the United States as he contests his first IndyCar Series, of making it back to Mount Panorama.

McLaughlin, who won the Bathurst 1000 in 2019, will finish his IndyCar duties on September 26. That end date, combined with a likely two-week quarantine due to COVID-19, would have made an October Great Race drive tricky.
But November is much more feasible.
"Certainly the date change to Bathurst opens up the opportunity, or certainly increases the likelihood and the chance for us to bring Scott across," Shell V-Power Racing CEO Ryan Story said.
