It was two seasons ago that CSU became the first club in the history of the league to clinch the premiership double as the Mungoes beat Orange Barbarians 30-0 in the cup decider and in the all-university league tag finale, Yellow downed Blue 4-0.
As was the case on that August afternoon in 2019, CSU will hold the advantage of playing at Diggings Oval this Saturday.
This time around due to COVID-19 and bad weather the students have had to wait four weeks since winning their respective major semi-finals, but president Callum Flanagan is just as excited.
"It's taken awhile, I'm excited it's finally here. I am heaps proud from a president's perspective to have both teams in and a home grand final after having a home major final," he said.
"To have that sort of success, we had a double minor premiership, I'm so proud."
While the Mungals head into their decider undefeated thus far and the Mungoes are on a seven-game winning streak, Flanagan said they've had to work hard for that sort of record.
It's hard work which will be required again on Saturday if they are to beat Orange United Warriors in both the cup and league tag deciders.
"It sounds like this has been a whitewash but it hasn't, the girls only won by four points in the major and our boys have lost this year and fought hard in the games that they've won," he said.
"It might sound like with the victories we've had so far that it's been easy, but it definitely hasn't been and the teams we've been versing have made sure of that," he said.
"So it's going to be tough for both of us, the boys and the girls, I don't think we've got this in the bag. Both teams will have to rely on each other to get it done.
"They're going to throw everything they have in both games, you can't expect anything less in a grand final, so we're going to do have to do the exact same."
The league tag grand final between the CSU Mungals and Orange United kicks off at 1.45pm, while the Mugoes will do battle with the Warriors from 3pm.
