RE: Architect's Plan For Historic TAFE Building (June 6, 2020).
Henry Bialowas and the PACE group's strategic plan for a Performing Arts Centre of Excellence in the old TAFE building is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to gift Bathurst with a significant cultural venue right in the centre of the city and within a resurgent Town Square.
The PACE group, comprised of citizens with enormous business acumen and incredible architectural expertise, has laid out a detailed plan to develop the building, over time, into a cultural centre for our region at minimal cost to the ratepayer.
Their proposal addresses every contingency. It is brilliantly simple, effective and reassuring.
If you can find a copy of the detailed plan, I invite you to imagine, if you will, what has been proposed.
Imagine this mighty building having its main entrance into the Town Square.
Imagine the Town Square responding in kind, thriving and growing as a consequence; with accessible little businesses, nooks and activities.
And not least, imagine all this integrating with the Winter Festival and the Festival of Bells.
The proposal is a perfect fit.
We are so lucky to have someone with Henry Bialowas' love of the city to give us this solution.
We cannot let it slip through our fingers.
