The Steve Turnbull-trained runner caused an upset in the feature event of Friday night's Parkes meeting, winning the Garrards Cobra Gig Series Final (1,660 metres) at odds of $12.
Mitch Turnbull didn't have to make any tough decisions early on in the race, with his sole aim being to just follow out gate one starter Eagle Art.
Turnbull just had to bide his time in the gig and hope that the right opportunity presented itself, which it did on the turn for home.
It was the six-year-old gelding's first success since April 2019.
"Every now and then he runs a good race. He just had a beautiful run here and got the cash," Steve Turnbull said.
"He got out at the top of the straight and I was thinking to myself 'If he's ever going to win one then this is going to be it'. He's a bit older but he's showed us a lot of ability in his trackwork.
"It's funny because the start before that was pretty ordinary here at Bathurst but then one before that he ran a really good race.
"There were a few hard luck stories in that race which probably helped him a lot here too ... and all of that added up to him getting a nice and easy run."
Turnbull sat patiently behind Eagle Art throughout the running, and found himself part of a race of three when Why Nott raced up on the outside.
The rest of the field took their time to catch up, which presented Remember Bubbles the perfect opportunity to duck out three wide for his sprint attempt.
He flew down the outside for a 1.1m win over Nathan Turnbull's fast finishing Tackas Princess ($11) while Eagle Art ($16, Garry Edwards) rounded out a high-paying trifecta in the feature race.
