It's that Western will be staying put in National Premier Leagues 4 in season 2022.
Western played its last game of NPL4 on June 19, after which the COVID-19 enforced lockdown of the Greater Sydney area saw the competition put on hold.
On Thursday Football NSW officials finally made the decision that - with the lockdown ongoing - its 2021 competitions were cancelled
With that decision came another about a planned restructure. Western had expected to be in NPL3 next year when the competitions would be altered to three tiers, but those changes are on hold.
"As a result of the current lockdown period, only the first 17 of the 22 scheduled regular season matches were able to be played in the NPL1 competition and only 16 of the 22 scheduled regular season matches were able to be played in each of the three remaining senior men's competitions. Clearly, the Premiership season has not been completed and as such, the sporting integrity associated with our various principles surrounding promotion/relegation have been severely compromised," Football NSW said in a statement.
"For the 2022 season, as was the case during the 2021 season, the men's senior competition will comprise four competitions."
