They probably didn't expect their first day of trade to come a couple of days into lockdown, but the Bakehouse on the Boulevard brand has expanded into the Bathurst CBD as 'Bakehouse on Howick.'

Bakehouse on Howick officially commenced operations yesterday [for take-away only] in a bid to grow on the brand that owner Nathaniel Mason and manager Lauren Mason, with their dedicated team, have been nurturing in Kelso over the past two years.
"It's very nerve-racking, but we'll hopefully be right and able to push through with both shops open," Ms Mason said.
"We were already engaging a dedicated part of the Bathurst community in Kelso, and after seeing this site vacant, we felt it was the right time to expand into the CBD and engage a different customer base."

Bakehouse on Howick has taken up shop at the former site of Peewee's Bakery, which shut in 2019.
While the current lockdown orders in place for NSW, which were handed down on Saturday, were a cause for concern, Ms Mason said they were lucky to open as a business where take-away options are a key part of trade.
"We heard the news on Saturday and were immediately thinking 'oh no, what are we going to do'," she said.
"But at least our business relies predominantly on take-away options, and everyone has been really supportive so far."
Ms Mason said the 'Bakehouse' brand is highlighted by its firm local focus and dedication to freshly-made produce.
"Customers certainly appreciate the fact we're a locally owned and operated business," she said.
"Everything is made on site: from the pastry to the custard: and the meat in our pies is sourced from a local butcher."
"Hopefully the lockdown ends soon so we can introduce tables and chairs again."
Bakehouse on Howick is open from 5.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, and 6am to 3pm Saturday.
