TWO months ago she had to say no to a triathlon dream and now Peta Cutler's hopes to contest a second Ironman 70.3 World Championships have been put on hold too - it's little wonder she is joking about taking up golf.

On Wednesday Cutler received the news that the 2022 Ironman 70.3 World Championships, which had be slated to take place in Taupo, New Zealand on December 10-11, would not go ahead.
It was an event Cutler had qualified for back in December 2019 when she placed second in her age group at the Western Sydney 70.3 event. Fellow Bathurst triathlete Terry Roberts earned a spot as well.
At that stage it was to be the 2020 World Championship and while it was reschedule twice since her qualification, Cutler had been optimistic that the 2022 date would go ahead.
Having made her 70.3 world champions debut in 2019 in World Championships in Nice, France, this time she had plans to take her family with her so they could watch her race.
"I was thinking it could be a really good year, I was thinking New Zealand, even if it wasn't a typical world champs and maybe just Aussies and New Zealanders, I was still really excited about it," she said.
"I was planning towards next year thinking Australia is going in the right direction with vaccinations and it's a year away.
"Obviously I didn't have my family with me in France and I was so excited to take the kids over and cheer on Mum, but now it's not happening."
While the course in France, where Cutler placed 22nd, featured an intimidating cycle leg, the course at Taupo was better suited to the Bathurst talent.
It was also the scene of past triumph as in 2016, when contesting just her second Ironman race, Cutler clocked an almost one hour personal best at Taupo.
"I have raced in Taupo before, I know how amazing Taupo is, the course and the atmosphere. I'd raced a world champs before, so I knew what it was going to be like," she said.
"It think there are a lot of disappointed people, especially for us because New Zealand is so easy to get to."
The news that the Taupo edition of the Ironman 70.3 World Championships would not go ahead in December next year comes after Cutler had qualified for - but had to turn down - a spot at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii.
She did that after a blistering performance at June's Ironman Cairns which saw her with a silver medal for her women's 35-39 years division.
"I'd never qualified for Kona before, it's just my dream to get to Kona, but look at the end of the day if I never get there, at least I know that I did achieve that," she said.
"I was really upset about Kona, but I think realistically no-one in Australia would've taken a Kona spot because you can't get there, it would be silly to even think we would be able to travel.
"But this New Zealand thing, this is the icing on the cake.
"I think I'm going to have take up golf or something."
