Race two of eight in Wellington was dominated by Mirfin's four-year-old mare after leading for the whole race on the Heavy track which was downgraded from a 10 to a nine during the day.
Neon Moon and jockey Reece Jones pushed out of the gates strongly to lead but both Master Drumer and Confined Thoughts kept in touch less than a length behind the leader.
Coming into the final straight Neon Moon ($2.40) kicked on to show blistering pace to blow the trailing pack away.
Brett Thompson's Press Sydney ($3.20) finished in second ahead of Master Drumer ($15) and Confined Thoughts ($5) respectively.
For Jones, it was his second win of the day after riding the winner in the first for Dubbo trainer Garry Lunn.
It was a strong field in the third race of the day the One Stop Automotive Shop, Wellington Maiden Plate.
The track was also upgraded to a Heavy 9 between the second and third race after rain hit the region over the weekend.
Newcastle's Amanda Davis and Tough Case took out the third race of the day after a strong final straight.
In the Allendale Merino Stud Maiden Handicap, Bathurst's Gayna Williams and Vascotto entered the fourth race of the day as short $1.70 favourites proved why with a dominant display.
Vascotto pulled away from the field slowly throughout the race before powering away around the final bend.
It seemed as if jockey Anthony Cavallo barely broke a sweat in the run with Vascotto finishing six lengths ahead of Cowra trainer Michael Lynch's Cheshire ($14) and Hammoon Money ($6.50) trained by Dubbo's Brett Robb.
It wouldn't be Mirfin's only success at the Wellington meeting, winning the Todd Smith Appreciation Handicap (1100 metres) with I Am Captain, which was the fifth race of the day.
Ridden by jockey Jackson Searle, I Am Captain stuck true to his pre-race favoritism ($2.35) to finish almost a metre ahead of his closest rival in Wayne Collison's Niccolon in second place.
