An email sent to teams from Cricket NSW stipulated that players over 40 may need to be double vaccinated in order to take part in any upcoming 2021-22 competitions across the state, while those aged 16 to 39 will require one dose.

However, there has been no official announcement or confirmation of these proposals from Cricket NSW.

Regardless of what developments comes through on the subject Frecklington has encouraged everyone to get vaccinated if possible.

"We don't really know what the guidelines will be yet. Cricket NSW have been putting together a plan, and they've said that in a worse case scenario that this sort of thing might be the case," Frecklington said, referring to the aforementioned requirements.

"They didn't have anything firm from the government when they were putting this together and it was something that they were talked about for what a season might look like.

"But things have evolved in a fair bit over the last two weeks, which is when those discussions were going on.

"It's really about encouraging cricketers who might have been thinking about it, who haven't got it done, to go out and get it done so we're ready to go.

"At this stage the government has said no community sport until an 80 per cent double vaccination rate, but hopefully teams will be able to train when we hit that 70 per cent mark."

Frecklington said he and the BOIDC board are closely monitoring the situation to determine when they may be able to start the new season.

"At this point in time, if things fall into place and we're able to play at 80 per cent, we could even be looking at late October for a season start. Until we have the roadmap to know what conditions are needed for us to play we have to wait," he said.

"We had a 14 round competition round planned. If we start three weeks later then we only lose a round if we shuffle one and two day games around. The plan for us is to be playing as much two day cricket as possible."
