Despite having only elected the duo as mayor and deputy mayor in July, Bathurst Regional Council had to carry out another vote due to the delayed local government election.
Council's general manager, David Sherley, said Cr North's election in July was to fill a temporary position.
"He filled a casual vacancy with councillor Bobby Bourke standing down as mayor. Cr Bourke was mayor for a two-year term and mayors can only be elected for two year terms," he said.
"Cr North being elected in July was to finish and fill Cr Bourke's term until September.
"Now that the election has been deferred to December, we have to hold another election."
The latest election was held during Wednesday's council meeting.
Cr North was returned as mayor unopposed and will remain in the role until the December 4 council election.
Cr Morse was also returned to the position of deputy mayor with no opposition.
It will be a nice way to end her council career, with Cr Morse having already confirmed that she won't be seeking re-election this year.
Cr North does intend to run again and is working on assembling a ticket.
With the exception of Cr Morse, all other currently serving councillors have expressed an intention to stand again. Cr Alex Christian is the only one of them set to run as an independent candidate.
