Local career coach Kirsten Brumby addresses this scenario in her recently published book - titled, accordingly, Now What?
She says the book is a step-by-step guide to achieving the career you truly desire and believes now is the perfect time to get yourself organised.

"I think now that we, hopefully, start to come out of lockdown, I think there's going to be quite a surge in employment," she said.
"We've seen quite a few job ads for hospitality venues and new retail organisations that are starting up in town, so now's the time to look at your resume, now's the time to brush up on your interview skills, now's the time to get some clarity if you don't know what you want to do next.
"Then you'll be ready to take advantage of all these jobs that I think are actually going to come out in the next six months."

Having lived in Sydney and Bathurst, Ms Brumby knows first-hand the significant difference between looking for a job in a metropolitan area compared with a regional town.
With a lot fewer opportunities in regional areas, it is vital that job-seekers know how to make their resumes pop and ensure they stand out in an interview.
Often someone may have all the skills required for a particular job and not even get an interview because they didn't know how to address the job criteria correctly.
This is something Ms Brumby has experienced herself and was the driving force behind her starting her career coaching business.
"I went from running my own company to trying to get a job," she said.
You have to make sure you're presenting yourself the best that you can.
"With all these great skills, I ran a really successful company for eight years and couldn't get a job.
"You've got to make sure your job application's spot on and then if you do get an interview, then you have to make sure that you're presenting yourself the best that you possibly can."
Ms Brumby figured if she had experienced the struggle of securing a job, then others must have as well.
She has since spent 16 years coaching people of all ages, giving them the best chance of gaining their desired job.
Now What? is the culmination of this experience.
"I've coached from 15-year-old kids that are getting their resumes ready just to go and try and get a job at Maccas right through to people that are at the end of their work life and are made redundant," Ms Brumby said.
Although Bathurst is a "small pond" compared with Sydney, Ms Brumby said job opportunities are still here and if you're unable to secure one, then you need to look at what it is you're doing or not doing.
No official book launch was organised due to COVID, however, Ms Brumby will be appearing at the BooksPlus Career Expo which has been postponed until February.
She will also be running a Clarity Workshop at the Bathurst Library in November, with clearing your mind and learning not to overthink things being a big part of Ms Brumby's coaching technique.
