One new case for Bathurst, seven in Oberon, state's numbers well down

It takes the city to 11 active cases (and 49 recovered) and means the city has had four new cases in the past five days (three of them coming in the one 24-hour period).

The news coming out of Oberon continues to be less encouraging: Bathurst's neighbour had seven new cases to 8pm on Saturday, three of which were infectious in the community.

Lithgow had three new cases and now has 18 active cases and Blayney had no new cases and has five active cases.

The Western NSW Local Health District had 34 new cases to 8pm on Saturday, almost double the number in the 24 hours beforehand.

Those cases were made up of eight in Wellington, seven in Oberon, six in Dubbo, four in Cowra, three in Narromine, two in Bourke, two in Gulgong, one in Mudgee and one in Bathurst.

Across NSW, the state had 667 new locally acquired COVID cases to 8pm on Saturday, which was down by almost 150 on the previous 24 hours.

There are now 195 cases in intensive care and 93 requiring ventilators, which are both down on the 24 hours before.

There were 10 deaths: three people from south-western Sydney, three from western Sydney, one person from south-eastern Sydney, one person from the eastern suburbs, one person from the Wollongong area, and one person from the Nepean-Blue Mountains area.

The NSW Government says the state is now up to 66.5 per cent double doses and 88.1 per cent first dose.

Meanwhile, Western NSW Local Health District says it will partner with the Australian Defence Force for a pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinic in Oberon from this Tuesday, October 5 to Thursday, October 7.

The health district says the dates have been extended from those originally promoted.

It says no bookings are needed for first doses and Pfizer vaccine will be available at the clinic for those aged 12 years and over.

Anyone aged 12 to 15 years must be accompanied by their parent, guardian or nominated carer.

Those attending will need to bring a form of identification and, where able, their Medicare card.

The health district says second dose clinics will be scheduled.
