Supt Noble was interested in making the move to the Chifley region eight years ago but there was no vacancy.
He took a job as the commander in Wagga and has eventually made his way to Bathurst.
"I have a strong background in being commander in rural and regional places," Supt Noble said.
"I was commander at Wagga for eight years and prior to that I was commander at Walgett, so western regions are somewhere I'm familiar with.
"[It was] time for a fresh set of eyes in the Chifley Police District ... I was keen to come on and work with the Western Region Commander Brett Greentree so there were plenty of upsides there."
Having grown up in Narrabri, Supt Noble has always gravitated towards regional areas and believes they deserve just as good a policing system as metropolitan regions.
He began his policing career at 19 in Sydney and has worked all over NSW but said there is a stronger sense of connection to the community in regional areas.
"I do like regional towns and small communities and our larger regional cities," Supt Noble said.
"I feel very comfortable in those communities and I think it's important that we do all we can to make sure they get a quality policing service at all times and I've really committed to that the last dozen years or so.
"You tend to forge strong affiliations with the people you deal with."
Supt Noble has always worked closely with the local governments during his time as a commander and intends to build these relationships in the Chifley District as well.
He believes a strong bond between the local police force and government representatives is "critical in delivering a strong service around the policing commission".
With 31 years experience Supt Noble has numerous memories that stand out but the ones he looks back fondly on are when colleagues and police officers have achieved great things.
From awards to positive experiences, he takes joy in the success of the people around him, and with his time in the Chifley District only just beginning many more memories are sure to be made.
Supt Noble took command of Chifley Police District on Monday, September 27.
