The inaugural festival, celebrating Bathurst's War Memorial Carillon, was held across three days in May.
A report to councillors said about 2600 people attended the festival over the three days, including 30 per cent from outside the 2795 postcode area.
According to the report, festival convenor Stuart Pearson estimated 375,000 was returned to the Bathurst economy as a result of the event.
ALSO MAKING NEWS:
"For the 2022 event, financial assistance of $20,000 is being requested to assist '...with reducing the costs involved in traffic control including associated planning, and security services covering the two and a half days of the festival'," the report to councillors states.
"... Should council provide the financial assistance, as requested, council will be acknowledged as a major sponsor of the event.
"As a major sponsor, council's logo and name will be displayed on all posters, corflutes and flyers for the event, together with any digital marketing and streaming material."
The report to councillors said council's Section 356 Donations fund currently held an unallocated balance of just $15,000, meaning extra would have to be found to meet the request from festival organisers.
"Council does have an annual allocation to provide assistance to community groups for the waiving of the fees associated with road closures for event held in Kings Parade," the report said.
"Accordingly, it is recommended that council waive the fees associated with the Kings Parade road closures required for the 2022 Festival of the Bells."
Councillors will consider the request at Wednesday night's monthly meeting.
