Best has been named as Jack Le Brocq's co-driver for this year's Bathurst 1000, the pair forming part of Tickford's three-pronged attack on the 161-lap epic.

Best has been given the chance after former Bathurst 1000 champion Alex Prémat, who had planned to co-drive with the team this year, withdrew due to international travel challenges.

"I'm obviously really excited to be stepping up to make my main game debut at Bathurst with Jack," Best said.

"I'm still sort of pinching myself realising I'm going to race in the Bathurst 1000."

While he will make his Supercars debut in the Bathurst 1000 behind the wheel of the #5 Ford Mustang, Best is no stranger to Tickford or Mount Panorama.

Best's regular drive this season has been in the Super2 Series for Tickford and it was a season he began in strong fashion at Bathurst.

Racing on the Bathurst 500 support card Best placed fourth and second across the two races to rank third for the round, but was later promoted to round winner and series leader after penalties were handed to Jordan Boys and Broc Feeney.

His good form has continued and Best currently sits second in that championship.

"We've had a pretty strong year in Super2 so far and I'm feeling really comfortable in the team, and I'm really thankful to the team for seeing that and giving me the opportunity," he said.

"It'll be a big week racing both in Super2 and the 1000, but I can't wait for it."

Tickford Racing CEO Tim Edwards was happy to give Best the opportunity.

"He's done an excellent job for us in Super2 and obviously knows the team and the cars pretty well, so he's certainly earned the opportunity, and we think he'll do a great job for us," he said.

Tickford's other driver pairings for the Bathurst 1000 have been confirmed as well, with James Moffat to partner Cameron Waters while James Courtney will share his seat with Thomas Randle.

The Bathurst 1000 will take place from December 2-5, serving as the season finale for the second consecutive season.
