Police, police rescue, SES and paramedics all rushed to the scene on Tuesday afternoon after receiving a triple 000 call the man was pinned by the leg under the rock.
Duty Officer with Chifley Police, Inspector Glenn Cogdell, said the incident happened at the Mount Rankin property just after 2.30pm.
The incident sparked a massive emergency response with the TOLL Helicopter also tasked to the scene.
Inspector Cogdell said the man, who is a farmer, was slashing grass at his Mount Rankin property , when a rock, about the size of a bar fridge got stuck between the slasher and the tractor.
"The man got off the tractor and tried to remove it, while he was trying to remove it the rock fell on him, fracturing his leg and pinning him to the ground."
Emergency crews were able to free the man who was then assessed and treated by paramedics at the scene.
He was loaded onto the Toll Rescue helicopter, which had been called from Bankstown and landed at the property, and flown back to Sydney for specialist treatment.
