The need for the Vinnies Christmas Appeal is more pressing than ever this year as COVID-19 support payments are being wound back, leaving many families behind.

Financial donations are sought from people in Bathurst and across the Central West, in the lead up to the holiday season.
Vinnies north west regional director Phil Donnan said the Christmas appeal is one the organisation's major annual campaigns.
"The Christmas appeal is more critical then ever," he said.

"People have been isolated because of lockdown and it's great time time to meet together after so long but for those struggling, it'll be a really tough time."
While people tend to donate clothes and furniture throughout the year, Mr Doonan, who's role covers the Bathurst and Armidale Vinnies councils, would love to see financial donations.
"If people donate money, we can put it into a hamper or voucher," he said.
"It'll be something special, to help people buy toys for kids.
"We've always been very pleased and humbled by the support the community has shown us.
"We're pleased the community has been giving to us throughout these difficult times."
Around 3.6 million Australians volunteer their time to help charities, sporting clubs, visit the sick and elderly, and much more.
Vinnies is the nation's largest volunteer organisation, with over 6400 volunteers in 227 shops across New South Wales.
