But if their debut single, 'Package Holiday' is anything to go by, one would be forgiven for incorrectly guessing this band was one of the groups that made the decision to ride the 90s Britpop wave on the back of Oasis and Blur, as this tune fits right in to that movement.
From the words of the group themselves: "'Package Holiday' is about four geezers - Tel, Del, Eggy and Porky - who go on a package holiday to an unnamed "tropical" destination," but the catch is "they're heavily inebriated before they even get on the plane, and from there it's all downhill."
The song essentially plays out as a barmy British holiday where four friends run amuck overseas [likely at Ibiza, Malia or any other popular British tourist destination], full of beers, blisters, misfortune and mayhem.
'Package Holiday' almost feels like the spiritual musical response to the 2011 film The Inbetweeners Movie, which also follows four British lads on a series of misfortune and hilariously barmy escapades at a popular holiday spot; are Tel, Del, Eggy and Porky variants of Will, Simon, Jay and Neil?
Musically, the sound is as quintessentially British as you can get; laid back vocals appealing to the Blur/The Jam axis, Gary Numan-esque synthesisers and a sunny, up-beat tempo reflecting simple, care-free times.

But what makes 'Package Holiday' truly stand out is its sublime humour, with the lyrics making perfect use of British slang and self-mockery to tell such a bonkers tale.
There's not really any other way to describe 'Package Holiday': the song truly speaks for itself, and it shows Royal Box aren't afraid to be literal and up-front with their music.
The band's London-born founders - Tel Bennett and Desert Island Del - keep studios in Orange, Brixton, Sydney and Jamaica.
'Package Holiday' is available to stream and purchase from Royal Box's Bandcamp page.
