Originally hailing from Portland, Oregon, it would take a number of books to accurately document Carr's musical journey, having performed across the United States and Europe alongside a host of music industry professionals.
But he's called Bathurst home in recent years, and Carr said he's looking forward to bringing his Americana group to the stage at Little Alberts.
"It's been a long time between drinks, and I think we've all spent way too much time sitting around these past two years; it's great to have the opportunity to get out and play quality music again," he said.
IN OTHER WHAT'S ON NEWS:
"My ninth studio album is coming out in a couple weeks time, and for this gig, I'll be playing some of those new tunes as well as a host of material I've written with various people over the years."
Carr has produced music with a wide range of noteworthy acts, including members of Rose Tattoo, Stevie Wright's band and his own group, Hillbilly Moon. He has also opened for legendary American musician Tom Petty, twice.
Carr unashamedly describes his music as Americana, which incorporates a variety of genres.
"Americana is a melting pot of folk's storytelling, blues' gritty edge and the power and passion of rock and roll," he said.
"With this gig, I'm hoping audiences will understand there's more to music than going out to see someone in the corner playing Brown Eyed Girl or Sweet Home Alabama.
"Music is like breathing to most of us, it can take you on a journey, remind you of happier times and help you forget your troubles, and I aim to help people out in those regards through music."
Carr said it's great for local music to see organisations such as Arts OutWest and The Victoria to make room for original music in their event offerings.
"It's very difficult to forge an original music career outside the big cities, so it's awesome to see these organisations endeavour to help bring out the art of local people," he said.
"There's an awful lot of talented individuals ... in this town who deserve more opportunities."
Carr's gig will be held at Little Alberts this Sunday. Doors open at 2pm for a 3pm start.
Tickets cost $10. For more information, visit The Victoria Bathurst Facebook page.
