Just like their families couldn't stop Romeo and Juliet, the rainy weather and COVID couldn't stop Abercrombie House's Shakespeare In The Garden's opening night from going ahead.

It was the ninth time Abercrombie House and the Bathurst Shakespeare Players combined to put on a reenactment of a Shakespeare play, which this year was The Tempest.
Abercrombie House owner and play producer Christopher Morgan deemed opening night a success despite the weather.
"We moved it into the ballroom because of the weather and it was a really great success," Mr Morgan said.
"As producer my observation would be that this kind of production of Shakespeare is really intimate, really well-grounded and the level of acting is superb and it was an absolute triumph on the opening night."
The cast of around 20 was selected just prior to Bathurst going into lockdown, so the actors had to work extra hard rehearsing over Zoom.
Mr Morgan credited production director Brett Van Heekeren and the cast for their dedication to bringing the show together under difficult circumstances.
"...a lot of the rehearsals began on Zoom and then they had to really pull it together quickly at the end," Mr Morgan said.
"They did a magnificent job.
"In fact, the Zoom rehearsals might have helped this play in a strange way because everybody really got on top of their characters really brilliantly."
The play also featured the Junior Shakespeares, a group of Bathurst children learning to be Shakespearean actors, and the Vox Choir from the Mitchel Conservatorium of Music.
The music was also all original, written by Michelle Griffin specifically for the production.
Mr Morgan said the Shakespeare shows have "all been fantastic" and always attract a full audience.
There are three more shows left taking place from Thursday, December 2 to Saturday, December 4.
