THE Western NSW Local Health District (WNSWLHD) remains more focused on the Delta variant of COVID-19, rather than an emerging variant that has been detected in Australia in recent days.

Several cases of the Omicron variant have been identified in NSW and the Northern Territory.
But WNSWLHD COVID-19 emergency controller Adrian Fahy said on Tuesday that Delta is still a concern.
"I think it's a little bit premature to make a lot of comment around Omicron. I think that Delta virus is giving us enough concern at the moment," he said.
"We just need be incredibly cautious."
He encourage people to implement a regular handwashing regime, to continue to socially distance from people, wear a mask, and stay at home and get tested if they are unwell.
"Regardless of the variant, we just need caution at this time, that's all," he said.
