Michael Anderson pleased with his Falcon's setup following first Super3 practice session

Over his 16 laps in the 40 minute session Anderson produced a fastest lap of 2:13.5834, putting him third in the Super3 standings behind Blake Fardell (2:11.5035) and Nash Morris (2:13.1265).

The leading Super3 trio were more than 1.5 seconds ahead of the rest of the pack, headed by one of Anderson's championship rivals Reef McCarthy (2:15.1897).

Anderson was willing to push his Ford Falcon FG a little bit harder than usual, feeling that the afternoon's second practice session had the chance to be affected by wet weather.

"We were looking at the rain coming in now, thinking that the afternoon's track was going to be wet, so we wanted to do a bit of a race run," he said.

"Later on we tried to do a qually run but we just got caught up in traffic. The car's good, and we know it's there and thereabouts for where we need it.

"It was quick in the first and second sector and then we'd catch someone on the third sector, and then the next time around we caught someone in the first sector. But at least the car's looking good."

Anderson spent the first half of the session inside the Super3 top five before he gradually increased the pace towards the end, producing his best effort on his 14^th lap.

The Bathurst driver believed he found the perfect balance of safety and pace throughout the 40 minutes and it gives him added confidence for the rest of the week.

"Times in the car are one thing. If we can get clean laps, that will come, but the other main thing to worry about is ensuring the tyres live too," he said.

"We used the first part of that session to make sure the car was consistent in its lap times, so on race pace I know that we're good."

Coming into this week's Super3 round Anderson sits third in the championship on 807 points, behind Morris (939) and McCarthy (885).

Anderson will be hoping to find similar success to what he achieved in February's round at Mount Panorama, where he finished sixth in race one before shooting to the top of the podium in the second event.
