Sarah Mills was one of the lucky young artists who had their work commissioned and unveiled at Bathurst Regional Art Gallery on Monday.
Miss Mills' photography piece was deemed one of the best after around 20 initial expressions of interest were received.
The artwork features seven photo sequences assembled into one collage, focusing on the transition from a negative headspace to a positive one.
"There's an individual concept behind each of them," Miss Mills said.
"It's basically going from being alone and in a bad mental state of mind to being together and better mentally, in a happier situation, I guess, which lines up with what Veritas is all about; just helping people out to get back to their better state of mind."
The project was organised in conjunction with Youth Week to celebrate and nurture young local artists.
Each young artist was paired with a mentor already established in the field to provide support and advice during the creation process.
Miss Mills teamed up with artist Steven Cavanagh, who does photo media exhibits and also works for Arts OutWest, which was the major sponsor.
Mr Cavanagh said he really enjoyed working with Miss Mills and was very impressed with how the photography piece came out.
"She was absolutely delightful to work with, amazing," he said.
"I am so excited; it's absolutely amazing the result.
"When I'm looking at that it's so coherent ... You can spend time with individual photos, you can spend time with individual groups and you can spend time with the entire work as one work and that was the whole point."
The successful pieces will be displayed in the Veritas House centres in Bathurst and Orange for other young people to enjoy.
Veritas House business development manager Narelle Stocks said they wanted to give young artists the opportunity to express themselves and thanked all of the local businesses that jumped on board.
