She was taking bids for the right to cut off one of Rhys Bray's hastily created pigtails before the rest of his hair came off for a good cause.
In the end, that privilege was purchased for a generous $100 by student Riley Robinson, who said afterwards that his decision had been spontaneous.
Rhys and Jakeb Gibbons, year 10 students at Kelso High, had not had a haircut for six months or so before they took a seat in front of fellow students and teachers and faced the big chop.
They looked at ease as the clipper whirred into life and smiled as their audience shouted encouragement or gave them updates on how they were looking.
The boys said it was a chance to have a bit of fun and raise some money for a good cause.
And they'd easily achieved the second of those two aims.
They had raised about $1400 - effortlessly eclipsing their goal - before the head shave and that total was boosted by a fundraiser sausage sizzle on Thursday.
Ms Woods said Thomas Dibley of Domino's Kelso had kindly donated pizzas for the head shave and sponsored the event.
The head shave proceeds will go to the Leukaemia Foundation, which says it uses funds raised to offer specialist support to those diagnosed with blood cancer, to fund leading-edge research and to campaign to make a change for people with blood cancer.
