Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Jr will kick off on Wednesday in the Beau Brown Pavilion at the Bathurst Showground after a long lead-up that featured all kinds of challenges - including the not-so-insignificant matter of a pandemic.
Work to construct the stage for the show started on Monday morning and rehearsals were held on Monday and Tuesday as the young cast prepared for the curtain to finally rise.
"It's perfect," Carillon Junior Theatrical Society's Bronni Colley said of the cavernous pavilion.
"It suits the car, it suits the story."
The Chitty Chitty car, the centrepiece of the show, was driven from Geelong to Bathurst last week and was initially stored at the Carillon Theatrical Society's base at Milltown in south Bathurst.
It was moved to the Bathurst Showground and the Beau Brown Pavilion on Monday, ready for its starring role - which, according to Mrs Colley, will include a touch of theatre magic.
