The 12 Bathurst cases were among 38 new infections across the Western NSW Local Health District to 8pm on Wednesday, with 12 in Orange, four in Dubbo, four in Molong, two in Blayney and one each in Mudgee, Forbes, Trangie and Oberon.
Bathurst's 12 new cases follow the six new cases recorded in Wednesday's figures and came as the daily figure for NSW rose to 1742.

The state's testing rates also remain high with 143,938 tests in the 24 hours to 8pm on Wednesday.
Health officials are urging people to come forward for testing even without symptoms to allow for COVID-19 surveillance.
People who take a surveillance test are not required to isolate while they wait for a negative result if:
- They do not have any COVID-19 symptoms.
- No one in their household has COVID-19 symptoms.
- They, and no one else in their household, is a close contact of person with COVID-19.
- They have not been to any of the places listed as a close or casual contact venue.
Free drive-through testing is available at the old Clancy Motors site on Howick Street.
The drive-through clinic is open from 8am-4pm each day.
