Boserio, who lives in Rockley but is based out of Chris Frisby's stables at Perthville, has Mistery Road entered for the 1730 metres pace, having drawn barrier three.
Having the connection to the late McCarthys, Boserio said it would be a special race to win.
"I knew them. They were really good people," he said.

"Ray, he was a good old fella. The McCarthys, I've known them for 40 years and we've got on quite well. It'd be a great race to win, terrific if we could win it."
"Ray was a butcher and his sons John and Matthew were butchers too. They were all from Bathurst originally."
Mistery Road heads into Sunday's race in decent form, picking up a second place at Menangle back on December 14.
That run comes after a sixth at Bathurst on November 24, in his first race since August.
Boserio believes he's in with a chance, but he'll have to manage the gelding's knees.

"It's not too bad. Everything is going to plan. It's actually been hard to get a run with him," he said.
"I missed out on a run about four times but I took him to Menangle last week and he ran a good second. He should go pretty well on Sunday I think, baring an accident.
"He's got a few knee problems, like he's got bad knees but we'll try and look after them. I think if he had good knees he'd have been a pretty good horse.
"We just have to monitor his knees, but so far so good."
Pheobe Betts has the drive for the four-year-old.
"I think she's driven him before [back in April this year], so she should go alright I think," he said.
"I had Travis Bullock driving him last time in Bathurst. I haven't sacked him but Phoebe has been driving him in him track work, so I thought I'd put her on him."
Sunday night's memorial will feature 10 runners, with a number of inform horses in Im Presi Belle, American Made and Iylac Beach.
Im Presi Belle, trained by Peter Rixon, has won her last two starts at Goulburn and Canberra, while American Made, trained by Paul Fitzpatrick, has won four of his last 10 starts, a run that saw the gelding only miss out on placings twice.
Iylac Beach is an untested colt on mainland Australia, his nine previous starts all coming in Tasmania when he was trained by Bianca Heenan but has since transferred to the stables of Jack Trainor.
The Olive and Ray McCarthy Memorial will get underway from the Bathurst Paceway at 7.49pm.
